Palliative Care review for ABMU Health Board

Roger completed a review of ABMU Health Board’s Specialist Palliative Care Service over a 4 month period, ending in March 2018. This was an exciting and meaningful piece of work which involved engaging the staff within the service and external stakeholders in an Appreciative Inquiry (AI) process. AI was explicitly requested as a methodology for delivery by ABMU.

Over a hundred people took part, with one to one and small group interviews. The process also involved looking at good practice from elsewhere in the UK.

In February a workshop was held that enabled people to hear about the good practice and dreams for the future. People also worked in groups to agree actions and priorities.

The end of the process involved the production of a report (over 100 pages!) that described the process, what people had said, good practice from elsewhere and recommendations for action.
