Older Person’s Commissioner and Powys Carers Magic Moments workshop

In September 2016 family carers, residential home staff, commissioners, social workers, CSSIW and others came together for a one day seminar to explore how to create those magic moments that make life great for residents. Building positive experiences for everyone living, working and visiting care homes.

Roger Rowett from Taith facilitated the event and using an Appreciative Inquiry approach. Roger also spoke about how AI was now explicitly referenced in guidance documents for dementia services.

In her report ‘A Place to Call Home?’ the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales called for action to be taken in various areas of care home provision, to ensure that residents could enjoy the best quality of life possible for them. The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales said that she was delighted to be working in partnership with Credu: Connecting Carers (formerly Powys Carers Service) and Taith to explore how to create the magic moments that make life great for residents, and build positive experiences for everyone living, working and visiting a care home.
