Clients
have used our services
to provide responses to a range of issues. In each case we have
offered a solution that has been tailored to individual circumstance
and need rather than just a standardised response.
This individually tailored approach has resulted
in solutions that have been practical and cost effective.
WORK WE HAVE UNDERTAKEN
In 2011 we worked with Pennaf Housing Association to organise
and deliver a staff conference specifically for care home staff.
We developed this around a theme of 'Celebrating Excellence' and
linked this to both staff and residents using Appreciative Inquiry
and Person Centred approaches. We also delivered a range of contracts
for Denbighshire County Council, Care Council for Wales, and a number
of other clients.
During 2009/10 we delivered a number of projects for the Care
Council for Wales including reviewing innovative approaches
in services for people with dementia, carrying out a survey of commissioning
across Wales, and assisting with the accreditation of learning within
the Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales. We also assisted
one of our partner organisations in England to facilitate community
events across NW England in order to consult with residents about
future planning and spending. Some of this focused on responses
to antisocial behaviour.
Other pieces of work have included:-
A domiciliary care agency wanted to develop its self evaluation
processes. We introduced an innovative programme which included
workshops and work based exercises. This resulted in a new self
evaluation framework and first review. This process centred on an
Appreciative Inquiry approach.
Denbighshire County Council wanted an investigation into
matters surrounding the management of a high profile service. We
successfully delivered this within very tight timescales.
We also undertook an independent review of Denbighshire's Youth
Service. This work included involving staff in an Appreciative
Inquiry process.
A voluntary sector special school wanted a review of its
residential services. We provide a range of support across the school
including the introduction of person centred profiles and a self
evaluation process based on Appreciative
Inquiry. The PCP work was highlighted in an Estyn inspection
(2009) as good practice.
A large housing association wanted a review of its CRB policy
and procedures. We provided this together with advice on dealing
with positive disclosures and the interface with subcontractors.
Cartref Ni - a domiciliary care organisation in North Wales,
asked us to provide training on the National Minimum Standards.
A series of four workshops was arranged over 2006 and 2007 for staff
and managers from a range of private and local authority providers.
Scope wanted a review of all their services across education,
care, and work based training. We conducted a regulatory compliance
review in order to evaluate how well the services were able to respond
to external inspection. This work focused on internal systems of
self evaluation and performance management.
The Welsh Assembly Government wanted a review of how local
authorities were auditing youth support services. This resulted
in a range of meetings and online surveys in order to ascertain
the various approaches and strategies. A final report was produced
which provided an analysis of activity and recommendations.
A large housing association wanted an independent internal
investigation. This work required a sensitive but thorough approach.
Staff and tenants were interviewed and findings were presented within
a number of reports in order to inform management responses..
A task and finish group within a Children and Young People's
Framework Partnership (CYPFP) wanted an independent evaluation
of how effectively they had delivered an advocacy project. This
work involved interviewing key partners and young people.
Neath Port Talbot YPP wanted a presentation and workshop
on the challenges facing the young people's partnership with a particular
emphasis on the Estyn inspection process. Wrexham YPP wanted
an independent facilitation of a YPP consultation day.
A domiciliary care agency in North Wales wanted to promote
the rights of their clients with a learning disability to be fully
empowered and involved in the planning and delivery of their support.
We provided a service evaluation
system that enabled clients to rate different aspects of the
service and provide other feedback to the organisation.
Blackpool care homes were entering a new regime of star
rating in order to provide the public with a simple indicator of
quality. We provided a number of homes with a full service evaluation
in order that they were able to upgrade and refine areas of their
service prior to rating.
The Scottish Executive were taking over responsibility for
the regulation of care providers from local authorities. We provided
an independent evaluation of the information management system they
were to inherit, in order to better inform their IT strategy. We
were in the unique position of having a thorough knowledge of both
the regulatory framework and information management systems.
